Farm Environment Plan (FEP) feature

The new Higher Level Stewardship scheme is only open to farms that have particularly interesting features – such as archaeology or good wildlife habitats – which is assessed by doing an ecological survey, known as a FEP survey.

Always ask your land agent if they have a qualified ecologist to do your FEP - or you could risk your HLS application failing. Also ask if your land agent is subcontracting to an ecologist - if so, you will pay a lot less if you go direct to the ecologist!
