PTYXIS are lead surveyors for the north-east and north-west of England on a major project aiming to capture evidence of the extent, condition and trends across the whole resource of non SSSI woodland types in England and Wales. We also worked with ExeGesIS and woodland expert George Peterken to develop and field test the methodology.
PTYXIS is an ecological consultancy specialising in botanical (including bryophyte) habitat survey work in Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham, Yorkshire and Scotland. We also run ecology and plant identification training courses throughout the UK.
PTYXIS provides affordable and reliable ecological consultancy services to clients from the corporate, public and conservation sectors.
We are now one of the leading specialist botanical consultancies in the UK.

Our ecologists are full members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM) and adhere to its code of professional conduct.
We implement health & safety, environmental and quality assurance policies and hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance cover.
We also submit our records of higher plants, charophytes and bryophytes to the BSBI's Flora of North-east England interactive website here
